| Oak leaf and Acorn Fireplace mantel 78" x 56" / Eastern Hard rock Maple This fireplace mantel is one of my more traditional carvings. In my research I found many oak leaf and acorn motifs, but everything I saw seemed 'dead'. I created life in this mantel by using real oak leaves and acorns as models and by carving mirror image designs on the left and the right corbels. This created balance and symmetry as well as a fresh and alive feeling. |
