| Path of the Walking Stick 43" x 15" / White Oak This carving is a personal storyboard of a ten-year phase in my life. Symbolic representations of key milestones and experiences are read from left to right, kind of a private hieroglyphic. Although the story can be told symbol by symbol, only I can truly read the underlying emotion of this piece, just as only you can truly understand the depth of feeling held in your personal totem or symbol. The white oak timber that I used for this work came out of a 150-year-old barn from northern Virginia. This is a very solid piece of wood, and personally, one of my favorite carvings. |
